It's called the "Market Bridge" which leads to the market on the other side of the bank.
|
Once dubbed 'Venice of the East' by European seafarers back in those days when the state has yet to be formed, the Malacca river was once an important trade route during the heyday of Malacca Sultanate in the 15th century. It has lost most of this function in the present and is a mere tourist attraction.
